Mount Fuji is Japan's largest mountain, and is one of three sacred mountains located in Japan. Climbs to the summit remain a popular pilgrimage today, as they have for centuries. The handle of this mug represents a Torii, a traditional Japanese gate most commonly found at the entrance of or within a Shinto shrine, where it symbolically marks the transition from the mundane to the sacred.

These pots are like abstract paintings that are useful. Joel attempts to translate intricate textures and colors from massive mountain landscapes into functional, gorgeous pieces of abstract artwork.

Mountains are gigantic sculptures made by nature that affect us powerfully. Mountains also represent ambition. The idea of reaching the summit of a mountain can motivate us to pursue and achieve great goals. Joel Cherrico creates this abstract mountain pottery with those ideas in mind.

Functional

All of our Stoneware and porcelain pottery is 100% food and dishwasher safe, however, handwashing this mug is recommended.
