These jars are rare. This jar is especially rare because it cracked in a gorgeous, natural way during the 2,400 kiln firing. Joel filled the crack and multiple glaze spots with multiple layers of 24 karat gold.
After drying for months and firing for 4-5 days up to 2400 degrees F. the glaze colors must melt together perfectly. Joel's jars rarely turn out this beautifully. These pictures accurately show the pot, but the gorgeous colors and textures are even more stunning in person. This particular jar is one of the most stunning, perfectly imperfect pots that Joel has ever created.
